C'est ce lundi matin que les nominations aux Oscars étaient dévoilées par l'Académie. Ainsi, on découvrait ce matin les nommés dans 24 prestigieuses catégories.
C'est finalement le film Joker, qui a connu un succès retentissant partout dans le monde, qui récolte le plus de nominations. Il est cité dans 11 catégories, dont celles du meilleur film et du meilleur acteur pour Joaquin Phoenix. Celui-ci a beaucoup de chances de l'emporter, si l'on se fie aux prédictions des spécialistes.
Suivent les films The Irishman de Martin Scorsese, 1917 de Sam Mendes et Once Upon a Time in Hollywood de Quentin Tarantino avec 10 nominations chacun. Rappelons que c'est 1917 qui a remporté, à la surprise générale, le prix du meilleur film aux récents Golden Globes.
Un film québécois, le court métrage de fiction Brotherhood de Meryam Joobeur, se retrouve aussi parmi les finalistes.
La 92e cérémonie des Oscars du cinéma, organisée par l'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, aura lieu le 9 février 2020 au Théâtre Dolby de Los Angeles.
