Les trois plus importants prix de la soirée des Grammy Awards 2016, qui a eu lieu lundi soir en direct du Staples Center à Los Angeles, ont été remis à trois artistes différents.
Sans surprise, Taylor Swift est repartie avec le prix le plus convoité, soit celui de l'album de l'année pour son opus 1989. Alors qu'elle est montée sur scène pour cueillir son prix, Swift a adressé avec classe la controverse qui l'oppose à Kanye West depuis un moment, celui-ci ne cessant de vouloir rabaisser le travail de la chanteuse : « En tant que première femme à remporter l'album de l'année des Grammys deux fois, je tiens à prévenir toutes les jeunes femmes ici présentes qu'il y aura des gens sur votre chemin qui vont essayer de minimiser votre succès et de tirer profit de vos accomplissements ou de votre célébrité. Mais si vous vous concentrez sur votre travail et si vous ne laissez pas ces personnes vous détourner de vos objectifs, un jour viendra où vous arriverez à vos fins. Et à ce moment-là, vous saurez que vous ne le devez qu'à vous-même et aux personnes qui vous aiment. Ce sera la meilleure sensation du monde ! Merci pour ce moment! »
Le prix de l'enregistrement de l'année a été remis à « Uptown Funk », la collaboration du DJ Mark Ronson avec Bruno Mars qui ne cesse de tourner en boucle dans toutes les radios depuis son lancement.
Ed Sheeran a quant à lui reçu le prix de la chanson de l'année pour « Thinking Out Loud ». « Mes parents viennent chaque année et chaque année je perds », s'est-il exclamé surpris. Pas cette année cher Ed!
Kendrick Lamar, qui menait les nominations avec 11 mentions, n'a pas remporté les prix les plus convoités, mais s'est tout de même illustré dans plusieurs catégories, dont celle du meilleur album rap. Il a offert une performance enflammée qui a comblé les spectateurs adeptes de sa musique.
Meghan Trainor s'est quant à elle distinguée comme la découverte de l'année, ce qui lui a donné des larmes de joie. « Je suis un désastre, je dois aller pleurer », a-t-elle dit avec humour et émotion avant de quitter la scène.
LL Cool J a animé la soirée qui nous a permis de voir de nombreuses performances musicales, notamment d'Adele, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga qui a rendu un vibrant hommage à David Bowie, Andra Day avec Ellie Goulding (méconnaissable avec ses énormes lèvres) et bien d'autres.
